Phil Heath Blasts Classic Physique Competitors

There are only two kinds of people in this world: Those who love Phil Jarrod “The Gift” Heath, and those who hate him. Just because he has a massive social media following doesn’t mean he’s adored and respected by all. A lot of the things he’s said and done haven’t sat well with the bodybuilding community. And he's recently caused some controversy again by airing how he feels about the Men's Classic Physique division.

In a recent interview, he's quoted as saying,

"My opinion is that it's a great division for people who want to get started, kind of like Men's Physique... Classic Physique is for those weekend warrior athletes who still want to play ball on the weekend with their friends, and not necessarily have the goals and aspirations to be a Mr. Olympia Open bodybuilding champion. Maybe their genetics just aren't that way, I don't know, or maybe they just don't have the desire."

Phil is known for responding to tweets with attitude, sarcasm, or even just biting one-liners on social media, but this 'attack' seemed out of no where. Granted, he’s human just like everyone else, with character flaws and a heart like everyone else, but the guy is supposed to be an ambassador for the sport. Everything he says and does is scrutinized, and thus, he should probably conduct himself with a little more poise and patience.

Here is a photo that a fan made and posted on a forum, comparing Canadian Classic Physique pro Chris Bumstead, to the 7-time Mr. Olympia.

We don't know what Phil will say next, but we hope that someone from the Classic Physique world steps up and takes on Mr. O!
