Will Dexter Jackson Win The Olympia?

QUESTION: Scott I love your "tell it like it is" approach to bodybuilding. So what's your honest opinion of Dexter Jackson's likelihood of ever winning an Olympia title again?

ANSWER: Not likely and here's why. I've know Dexter for many year before he was ever a contender for the title. In fact, when Dexter was first on the pro scene, I met him and his girlfriend (he later married her) at the airport. They told me he hates to cook and so he drinks 8 MRP shakes a day until his wife gets home with dinner! They both told me (separately) that he eats pizza and KFC all the time for dinner but just blends shakes all day cause he hates cooking so much! No shit, this is what they said. He explained to me that he can eat as much as he wants and he never "loses his stomach muscles". Dex said his body has always been super lean but he had struggled to gain weight his whole life. For contest prep, he told me he diets for 4 to 5 weeks max but during this time he eats the usual 5 or 6 small meals per day, rice, vegetables, chicken, egg whites etc. Another weird thing he said that I never forgot was that he never does a set for more than 6 reps on any exercise! I asked him what about calves, he said 6. I asked him what about leg press, he said once again, 6 reps! I couldn't figure out why the fuck 6 and not 5 or 7? So I asked him why 6!? He said he always just stops at 6 and he said he never trains for more than 45 minutes and never more than 4 days per week max! I'm told his training style changed when he started to close in on Cutler for the Olympia.

Dexter Jackson Hires Charles Glass

According to our Athlete Insider Domenic Mauro, Dexter has now hired Charles Glass, I'm certain the number of reps and sets will be increased. It will be interesting to see him at the Flex Pro to see if Glass was able to add any additional mass to his already mature physique. But if Dexter continue to train with Glass all year up to the Olympia in September, I have no doubt he will make constant gains and unleash a whole new physique. Now will those gains be enough to come back from his disappointing 4th place finish at the last Olympia? I think the question really is will Phil Heath and Branch Warren (who placed 2nd and 3rd respectively) make improvements this year or come in dry like they did last year? If they don't then Dexter certainly has a shot. Now what will he do to take down Jay Cutler? If Cutler keeps gaining mass and comes in shredded like he was this year, nobody will beat him.
