GlycoCarn Increases Nitric Oxide

This ingredient’s full name is glycine propionyl-l-carnitine hydrochloride. What this boils down to is this is a form of carnitine. Carnitine is the amino acid that helps with fat loss, endurance, brain power etc. etc. This stuff contains the N-propionyl group attached to the carnitine, and this aids in carnitine’s affinity to certain key enzymes in the heart and muscles. Now why the glycine part is there I am not entirely sure. Maybe because it’s a precursor to carnitine, but why incorporate a precursor when you have the actual stuff in the compound to begin with? I don’t know, maybe its just there for marketing purposes. There is a study on it which shows it increases nitrate/nitrites in the blood of exercising men. This indicates increased nitric oxide production. What the study doesn’t tell us is whether this response is unique to this form of carnitine, or whether propionyl-l-carnitine or any other form of carnitine will do the same thing. Dosages are typically one to two grams a day, usually taken pre-workout.
