Can I Work For MUSCLE INSIDER?

QUESTION: I hope this letter finds you doing well. I am sure you were aware of talk about Rx Muscle launching a bodybuilding magazine for Harris Publishing, particularly since Anthony Roberts wrote about it on his blog a couple months ago. Harris Publishing had contacted them late last year anxious to have them produce a magazine because they felt that there was a great deal of profit potential in the genre. I was flown out to Dave Palumbo’s house on Long Island in February and offered the Executive Editor position. We had an editorial meeting at that point and put together a general editorial vision of the magazine. The negotiations between Palumbo/Romano and Harris Publishing went back and forth, with the company’s owner Stanley Harris delaying the final agreement for many months. I used that time to do as much preparatory work as possible. This past Thursday, I was told that the project has been cancelled. Harris Publishing has decided to reneg on any verbal agreements or future development on the concept. As I was not privy to all details of the negotiations, I cannot speculate on the reason for their decision. I was contacted the next day, told of the regrettable cancellation. I was offered a different (drastically reduced) salary since they are left with only a web presence, of which I had to decline. My longtime relationship with Dave Palumbo remains a very positive one but I am found looking for immediate employment. I’m not sure the status of your magazine project, but if you are looking for editorial and writing assistance with it, I would like to offer my services. I have attached my resume but I am sure you already know that I can offer a creativity and voice that no one else in the industry can deliver. I would be very interested in discussing how I might assist you in reaching your goals.

Sincerely,
Steve Colescott
