How seaweed can help lower estrogen

It’s known as bladderwrack seaweed. Or, Fucus vesiculosus. Or just plain, ordinary kelp. You may know kelp as a large seaweed belonging to the brown algae family. Or you may not know it at all. But researchers at the University of California at Berkeley know it exceptionally well as the newest compound being studied for its antiestrogenic effects. American scientists noticed a correlation between the amount of seaweed that Japanese women eat and their low levels of breast, womb, and ovarian cancer. These types of cancer are caused by estradiol, which is the primary female sex hormone. What the researchers noticed when they took blood samples from rats who were given kelp was that the higher the concentration of kelp, the less estradiol the cells made.
