Whey Before Training Bumps Up Fat Loss After
There isn’t a bodybuilder (or scientist) in the world who doesn’t know the important of taking protein after working out. But what about taking protein before working out? Researchers from Michigan State University examined the fat-loss benefits of taking 18 grams of whey before working out. They found that the participants’ energy expenditure the day after training was 8.5 percent higher than the group not given whey. The rise in energy expenditure also came with a rise in fat burning because of the effect the whey had on excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). So next time you’re ready to work out, try having whey before and after and see what your body does.
Fruit Fights Fat
Bitter orange (Citrus aurantium) is a common ingredient found in fat-loss supplements. Grapefruit has also been touted for a long time as a fat-fighting superfood. So what happens when a product comes out on the market that contains bitter orange, grapefruit, and guarana? Pandemonium! Sinetrol is the newest fat-loss supplement that’s supposedly the be-all and end-all for losing weight. It also contains polyphenols, which simply put, cause fat cells to release more fatty acids into the bloodstream, where the body can then use them as fuel. Is this product as effective as it claims to be? Check it out for yourself!
White fish for fat loss!
If you’re a competitive bodybuilder, you’ve heard the advice to eat more fish closer to your show because it’ll help lean you out and thin your skin. Sounds like a myth, right? Researchers at the University of Iceland wanted to test this. They established three groups: The control group, who were given lean meat every day, another group given 150 grams of cod three times a week instead of meat, and a group given 150 grams of cod five times a week. The two cod groups lost more weight than the meat group and demonstrated greater waist-measurement reductions. So eat up when it comes to whitefish for fat loss!
