Can DMSO Help For Pain?
I've been powerlifting for almost 10 years now and have developed both rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis in both my elbows and have soft tissue damage in my right shoulder. Can DMSO help me?
The FDA tried to ban it from the United States years ago, so information about it has been suppressed. DMSO is the most amazing medical compound of the twentieth century, according to literally hundreds of researchers who conducted over 300 studies with over 10,000 patient records before FDA banned it from being researched for human use in 1965 for specious reasons. (The main reasons are that it’s super-cheap and it competes with drugs and surgeries so well.) These studies include DMSO being used successfully to treat both kinds of arthritis and make soft tissue injuries heal considerably faster.
I speak from experience. Several years ago, without conditioning training, I did two eight-mile race-walks in Central Park and ended up with a 30 percent tear in my Achilles tendon, along with three torn ligaments that stabilize the foot. My heart and lungs can do anything, I should have done conditioning training before challenging myself this way.
I couldn't do surgery quickly because of my intense schedule, so I rubbed DMSO on the torn areas two or three times a day – I thought mostly for pain relief – for four months. A week before surgery, the surgeon, Dr. Robert Joseph of Los Angeles, ordered another set of MRIs of my foot to take a good look at what he was doing surgery on. He was amazed at what he saw. He said, “It’s considered medically impossible, but the Achilles tendon and the ligaments have healed. First, Achilles tendons don’t heal like this without being immobilized in a boot while you use a crutch so you don’t put weight on it. And ligaments just don’t heal well. Surgery is required when ligaments were torn the way yours were. But you can quote me: They are healed and rock solid.”
DMSO is a transdermal agent, meaning it goes right through skin and can cause damaged soft tissue under the skin to heal at an accelerated rate. It works best when applied two or three times a day. DMSO is strongly anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling and reduces pain, and this is why it works to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Its pain-reducing effect can also help treat osteoarthritis (OA). I’ve seen people with severe RA experience am zing reversals of swollen joints.
After I had shoulder surgery, the entire shoulder, the arm and the rest of the body swelled up, too. Drinking one teaspoon of 99 percent liquid DMSO in a cup of fruit juice reduced all swelling tremendously for four to six hours.
Rubbing DMSO on where there’s pain and swelling can help to heal damaged tissue. For topical use, I prefer a DMSO gel that is 70 percent DMSO and 30 percent aloe vera, available from DMSO. net. People who have RA should also consider high dose omega-3 fats (fish oil), meaning 3,000 milligrams of the net total of EPA and DHA per day, which usually requires five capsules twice a day. Another supplement that should be considered is Curcumin 95, taken as two 500-milligram capsules twice a day. These are two of the strongest natural anti-inflammatory compounds. Each has published data showing success in addressing RA symptoms, and a recent study showed that curcumin reduced OA pain. [Alternative Medicine Review 15(4):337-344, 2010]
