Are Greens Supplements Worth It?

I see greens here and greens there and that many of the pros use greens in their shakes. But do greens supplements really have a place in bodybuilding?

Great question. I hear that a lot these days, it seems. The fact is that health nuts and experienced supplement users have been taking greens-type supplements for years. Typical greens are naturally high in chlorophyll, which has a powerful detoxifying effect on the body, specifically with heavy metals in the body. Greens also have a strong pH-balancing effect, and with the amount of protein that bodybuilders consume, greens seem like a good addition! In addition, dark pigmented green nutrients have a potent blood-building effect. They stimulate the production of red blood cells, which of course helps with oxygen transfer to muscle tissues and blood volume (i.e., the pump.) This increases your ability to train at a high intensity for a longer duration. Dark pigmented greens also have extremely high ORAC values, making them excellent antioxidants. Greens products have great potential for any bodybuilder as an add-in to your shake.
