Q. What are the top supplements you’ve seen used in powerlifting (by ingredient)?
A. Protein is the top seller, for sure. Personally, I like a blend of whey, casein, and egg proteins. With the amount of calories you have to take in, it’s nearly impossible to do that just with food. You’re looking at 5000–8000 calories, so shakes are essential to a powerlifting diet.
Before training, I take a mixture of dextrose, creatine monohydrate, beta-alanine, HMB, and BCAAs. And then daily I take fish oil, vitamin E, vitamin C, magnesium and zinc.
