Does the pH level of your skin effect the color of your tan?

Q. Is it true that certain foods can negatively affect the color of your tan by reacting with the pH of your skin? Or is this a myth?

A. The green color that the competitor experiences has absolutely nothing to do with the color they’re wearing and is caused by a high pH of the skin. The most popular cause is from diuretics; even a natural diuretic like dandelion root is a big problem in terms of increasing the pH of the skin. A high pH makes the skin turn a green color, and it shows through the tan. If the competitor washes off, they will see their skin still has a green tint to it. The color on the skin only enhances the green color and makes it more noticeable.

To prevent the high pH, I have all my clients use a good skin prep before tanning to neutralize the skin’s pH to give them the best color. However, if they use dandelion root up to their walk onstage, they’re taking the chance of their skin turning green and bleeding through their color. This is why I have just created a new formula that instantly stabilizes the skin’s pH, removes the green tint, and restores their color. It’s like magic to watch, and thus I called it Magic Mist!
