Who First Discovered Creatine?
Q. Who first discovered creatine? John Romano said that Steve Blechman claims to have initially brought it to market at Twinlab when he owned that company. T.C. Luoma maintains that James Bradshaw tried an old bottle of the stuff sitting in a box and convinced Bill Phillips to give it a try. Ed Byrd alleges he was the first to bring it to market. Now, I hear Anthony Almada is running his mouth, saying he thought of it first. Can you set the record straight?
A. Nope, I can’t really set the record straight there. Creatine was well-known before any of those gents were born, so none of them “discovered” it in the true sense of the term. What is clear is that Anthony and Ed were the first to really bring creatine to the forefront and market it aggressively on a large scale, and it then went onto be a cornerstone product for EAS via Bill Phillips after he purchased the company.
