Natural Diuretics

QUESTION: It’s summertime, and I need to shed that last bit of water before I hit the beach on the weekends. Any advice on the best natural diuretics I can use?

ANSWER: Far and away, the two best natural diuretic ingredients are dandelion and juniper berry, in my opinion, and that’s why they’re the two main ingredients in our RIPPED FREAK DIURETIC formula. In fact, dandelion and juniper are so effective  that they’re the only diuretic ingredients we included in the formula. The dosage of dandelion we use in our formula is 2 grams, which is derived from 8 grams of the crude equivalent. The reason we used this exact dosage is that a study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine shows that you need at least 8 grams of crude dandelion taken twice daily in order to increase water loss. In fact, subjects that took 8 grams of dandelion twice daily increased water loss by up to 19.8 percent in just 24 hours! Juniper berry, my other favorite diuretic ingredient, is recognized as a diuretic medicine by the German Commission E monographs, the worldwide scientific authority on herbals. The Commission E monographs prescribe 2 grams of juniper 2 to 3 times daily for diuretic effects, which is the same dosage of crude equivalent that we use in the RIPPED FREAK DIURETIC formula. Sure, you might have to take 4 capsules per serving and 8 to 12 capsules total per day—but at least you know you’re getting the right dosages. The key thing to remember with diuretic compounds such as dandelion and juniper is that you’ve got to take the right dosage or they just don’t have any effect.
