DIM For Estrogen Support
DIM's full name is diindolylmethane, and it’s a natural compound formed during the breakdown of plants and the digestion of indole-3-carbinol which is a component of the Brassica genus of plants. Sounds a bit scientific, right? Well, it’s not as complicated as you may think. In fact, DIM is readily available in vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and kale. DIM is used for various reasons, but its main mechanism of action is on the metabolism of the estrogen hormone. You see, estrogen is broken down into various metabolites, and each of these has different effects in the body. The “good” estrogen metabolites (2-hydroxy and 2-methoxy estrogens) work to promote fat loss, boost the fight against certain hormonal-related cancers (breast, uterus, and prostate), provide healthy energy levels, support healthy libido, and increase overall well-being. The “bad” estrogen metabolites (16-hydroxy) are those related to low energy levels, mood swings, premature aging, low libido, and so on. DIM has been shown to increase the levels of the good estrogen metabolites and decrease the levels of the bad ones. Thus, users of DIM will benefit from all of the positive elements that the good metabolites provide. DIM even helps regulate estrogen in a way that will allow users to tap into estrogenic fat accumulation. In addition to these benefits, DIM has also been shown to increase levels of postexercise fat loss, fight off free radicals and remove damaged cells, aid in symptomatic treatment of prostate enlargement, and improve symptoms of hormonal imbalances related to menopause, perimenopause, middle aging, post-pregnancy, and even physical stress. It’s been heavily studied as a natural treatment for various hormonal related cancers. When the word “estrogen” is used people automatically assume that a product is only for females. But this is defifinitely not the case with DIM. It provides benefits for both sexes, but also specific benefits for each as well.
Guys who want to boost testosterone and decrease estrogen for better performance can use DIM. Many male athletes and bodybuilders stack DIM with test-boosting ingredients such as DAA, tribulus, and mucuna for a potent test-boosting and estrogen-regulating combination. Men also use DIM to fight gynecomastia, low libido, and chronic fatigue. Women can benefit from using DIM to combat the negative effects of PMS and/or menopause. Both sexes can benefi t from the antioxidant potential of DIM and its ability to decrease estrogenic related cancers and promote estrogenic fat loss!
