Biggest in MABBA History!
2011 MABBA Muscles by Meyers Novice Championships - Biggest in MABBA History!
On Saturday, March 19th, 2011, the Manitoba Amateur Bodybuilding Association (MABBA) Novice Bodybuilding, Women’s Fitness, Figure, and Bikini Championship is going to make local history.
According to MABBA President, Tom Heffner, this weekend 166 competitors are going to step on the Pantages Theatre stage in Winnipeg. Heffner credits the explosion of the Women’s Bikini Division and the introduction of a new Grandmaster Division (45+) in Women’s Figure for attracting new interest from aspiring female athletes of all ages to try physique sports for their first time.
Interest is right! “In the past, local media showed little interest in covering our Novice and Provincial shows,” Heffner said, “but now we are happy to have two of Canada’s top industry magazines, Status Fitness and Muscle Insider in attendance to not only cover the show, but participate as sponsors as well.”
On top of that, two of MABBA’s biggest supporters and sponsors, FREAK Fitness and Showtime Supplements, have teamed up to bring Manitoba-born, Alberta resident IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Rob “Ripped to the Bone” Belisle as the show’s guest poser. Making his return to the same stage he started his bodybuilding career twenty-two years ago, Belisle is excited to put on a great show for his fans.
If all of that was not enough, special awards are being presented to two deserving Novice competitors. Long time MABBA supporter, sponsor, and local supplement superstore, Gorilla Jack, is presenting the “Iron Will” Award to the Novice competitor voted the most persistent and driven despite extraordinary circumstances on their way to the stage. As well, one of Canada’s fitness industry leading photographers, David Ford, will be presenting the prestigious David Ford Choice Award to the most marketable athlete as chosen by him. Ford is also going to be conducting a sold-out photo shoot the day after the show at FREAK Fitness.
“In preparation for the 2011 competition season, we at MABBA set some aggressive goals, one of which was to take our shows to the next level,” Heffner said. “With the help of our many volunteers, generous sponsors, and committed athletes, we are going to do just that! We are very excited for this upcoming weekend as we’re going to make MABBA history!”
