Rumble Supershake Donates Over 48,000 Protein Shakes
During this pandemic and subsequent restrictions related to physical distancing, one thing that is truly evident, is the uncertainty people are left feeling over our economy and basic needs. Prices at grocery stores are increasing and food banks struggle to keep shelves stocked with nutritious options. When the pandemic first led to shutdowns and restrictions back in March, Rumble Supershake made their biggest donation to date, with 10,000 Rumble drinks donated to Mustard Seed of Victoria, which runs the largest food bank on Vancouver Island. As last week ended, the total donations of Rumble drinks made to food banks and community organizations across Canada, has more than quadrupled to 48,132. This total donation has a dollar value of $220,000. With this donation equating to more than 48,000 meals to those in need, this will provide at least one nutritious meal a day, for 500 people over the next three months.
Founder Paul Underhill had this to say about the Rumble mission: "We believe high-quality nutrition should be available to everyone who needs it - not just those who can afford it. This is why we make an effort every year to give back and support hunger relief in our communities."
Some of the organizations that have been supported by these Rumble Supershake donations include: First Nation Harm Reduction Team, Food For Families Food Bank, Richmond Food Bank, the Tsarlip First Nation, Lookout Society, Portland Housing Society, Shelbourne Community Kitchen, Rosewood Manor, Sooke Food Bank, Abbotsford Food Bank, and Victoria Cystic Fibrosis Clinic.
"We've always been so impressed with Rumble's commitment to nutritiously feeding people in our communities," says Leslie Swanson, Executive Director of One Percent for Hunger. "That commitment continues with these recent donations, which are particularly appreciated at this time when it is so greatly needed."
