PharmaFreak: A Brand You Know and Trust

That yellow bottle and bold, black writing jumps out at you whenever you walk into a supplement store. PharmaFreak is a tried, tested, and true Canadian-born brand that has blown up internationally. Though it started small and humble with Ripped Freak back in the day, it’s branched out in a big way: Greens Freak, Pump Freak, and even Vegan Freak are touching a whole new demographic of consumers. PharmaFreak knows what its fans want, and wants to give it to them. We’d like to introduce its newest creation, Protein Freak.

PharmaFreak’s Protein Freak – What Is It?

“Protein Freak is formulated with top-quality whey protein concentrate and milk protein isolate to help meet your daily protein needs and support your body composition goals.” The combination of both whey concentrate and milk isolate proteins is what makes Protein Freak a unique hybrid on the market. Not only does it have everything your muscles need for growth, repair, and recovery, but Protein Freak is sweetened with 100% all-natural ingredients including stevia leaf extract! No artificial nonsense in this quality protein! In addition, the combination of whey and casein (milk isolate) has been proven time and again through science to be more effective for muscle building and repair. In fact, the amount of whey and casein used in two particular studies is very close to the combination of whey and casein (milk isolate) that is found in Protein Freak! Pharmafreak is backed by science. Always has been and always will be.

Protein Freak Under the Microscope

Whey protein concentrate (WPC) is one of the most widely consumed protein supplements in the world. It’s a fast-digesting protein that provides a great natural source of branched-chain amino acids. This is what made it an absolutely perfect choice for Protein Freak and for you to take post-workout for recovery. If you’ve read some of our other articles about different types of whey, you’d know that the amount of protein in whey protein concentrate can be as high as 89 percent. In sports nutrition, the most common type of whey protein is 80 percent protein, and the rest of the product consists of lactose (4 to 8 percent), fat, minerals, and moisture.

Milk protein isolate is a mixture of casein (about 80 percent) and whey about 20 percent) protein that is derived from milk. It is a slow-digesting protein source that can provide the body with a steady supply of amino acids. This makes it ideal to take as a pre-bed snack, a general snack, or pre-workout for that sustained release of amino acids in the bloods stream. In one study, a group of weightlifters drank two cups of skim milk immediately after their workout for 12 weeks. Three months later, the group getting the milk had the greatest increase in muscle mass (via increases in Type I and II fibers) with researchers concluding, “… chronic post-exercise consumption of milk promotes greater hypertrophy during the early stages of resistance training in novice weightlifters when compared with isoenergetic soy or carbohydrate consumption.” If this doesn’t make a case for why PharmaFreak would use milk proteins in Protein Freak, what does?

How to Take Protein Freak

At 140 calories per scoop, Protein Freak isn’t some lightweight protein. Whether you want to throw two scoops in a shaker along with a handful of almonds for a well-balanced snack or grab a scoop post-workout, you will be left satisfied after taking Protein Freak. According to the bottle, adults should mix one scoop with six to eight ounces (175 to 250 mL) of cold liquid (water, juice, milk, etc.) and consume it immediately. Consider adjusting the amount of liquid to achieve your desired consistency. This is also a great protein to use for baking a protein mug cake, protein pancakes, or protein muffins.

Freaky Protein Freak Mug Cake Recipe

- 1 large egg white
- 1 ounce unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or other milk substitute)
- 1 scoop (30 g) PharmaFreak Protein Freak
- 1 tablespoon (16 g) peanut butter (or any other nut butter)
- 1 tablespoon (5 g) cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Add all of your ingredients into a bowl and mix everything together. Coat a mug with non-stick cooking spray, and pour your mix in. Microwave for 45 to 60 seconds (more or less, depending on how powerful your microwave is).

Final Thoughts on Protein Freak

We’re fans—from the taste to the quality of ingredients to the way they put so much thought and research into why they were going to use a hybrid of different types of whey. It comes in 907 gram tubs or 2.2 kilogram tubs, and whether you go with Chocolate or Vanilla, you’ll fall in love with the rich and creamy texture. PharmaFreak has come out with everything from joint recovery supplements to a multivitamin to a Greens Product to one of the strongest fat burners on the market. Its newest foray into the whey protein scene will not leave you disappointed. 5 STARS FROM US!
