Elemetx: The New Kid on the Block

Elemetx, a company based in Milton, Ontario, introduced itself to the supplement industry around July of 2015. It announced the release of their first three products in October, and that’s when it really gained attention. Elemetx is a brand that prides itself on science and also transparency with ingredients, so it was no surprise that it released three solid, basic, foundational supplements at its inception: ThermoxyShred, the fat burner; Payload-ATP, the pre-workout; and EliteAmine, the amino acids.

Elemetx Payload-ATP: A Basic Introduction

Payload-ATP, in addition to the other two supplements Elemetx has released, contains ingredients that are backed by the latest real human science and clinical trials. This should make a difference to you as a consumer, because it means you know you’re not a guinea pig. It means Payload-ATP contains nothing but the best, highest quality, most effective, fully disclosed ingredients out there. By fully disclosed, we mean that Elemetx doesn’t hide behind proprietary blends or combinations; Payload-ATP has a large variety of 13 main ingredients, each of which is listed on the label along with its exact dosage. This is the kind of transparency the supplement industry needs and that Elemetx is known for. For example, Payload-ATP has exactly 400 milligrams of caffeine (anhydrous and dicaffeine malate), 1 gram of L-tyrosine, 1.8 grams of CarnoSyn beta-alanine, and 750 milligrams of creatine.

Payload-ATP Under the Microscope

As a magazine that values science and research above anything else, we were pleased to be able to read the ingredients of Payload-ATP without trying to dissect the label. Each ingredient is clearly listed along with its dose. What’s more, each dose has been clinically tested and backed by human research, so you know that the dose you’re getting in Payload-ATP is exactly what the scientists used on their subjects to achieve maximum efficacy.

Astragin: This is a relative newcomer to the ingredient game, but it’s a potent, patented absorption complex, which explains its presence in Payload-ATP. Amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and many other nutrients are taken up from the intestines into the blood via transporter proteins, and AstraGin™ has the ability to positively upregulate these transporter proteins. AstraGin™ has been shown in multiple in-vivo studies to increase the absorption of amino acids, such as arginine, lysine, citrulline, and histidine, some of the ingredients in Payload-ATP.

Huperzine-A: A lot of pre-workouts are starting to include huperzine-A for its cognition-enhancing ability, so Payload-ATP hit the jackpot with this one. It inhibits acetylcholinesterase, which subsequently leads to increased levels of acetylcholine in the body. Acetylcholine is a chemical that transmits signals, enhances memory, and aids in muscle function.

Olive Leaf Extract: If huperzine-A is like a toddler, olive leaf extract is practically a newborn. But Payload-ATP jumped on the bandwagon before there was even a bandwagon to jump on—that’s what makes it so unique and innovative! Olive leaf is still a relatively newly rediscovered botanical with much research on the horizon; however, it has shown much promise. Olive leaf contains a clinically researched and verified beneficial compound. Its main active ingredient, oleuropein, has been shown to help reduce LDL oxidation, increase thyroid activity, increase adrenaline production, and provide positive effects on glucose metabolism, among other benefits.

How to Take Payload-ATP

Each scoop of Payload-ATP is 13 grams (which is pretty big), so we recommend that you mix one scoop in 8 to 16 ounces of water. If you want to assess tolerance, especially because there’s a lot of caffeine in Payload-ATP, then try starting off with half a scoop. Take your mixture 15 to 20 minutes before your workout. Even if you’re hardcore, it’s not recommended to exceed one scoop per serving or in a 24-hour period. For those of you who are sensitive to stimulants, be aware that Payload-ATP contains beta-alanine and niacin; these are the ingredients that can cause tingling or flushing. Just something to keep in mind.

Payload-ATP currently comes in Bubble Gum Punch flavour (another unique and interesting twist from Elemetx), and in a 273-gram tub.

Final Thoughts on Payload-ATP

I’ll admit that I was skeptical about Elemetx’s use of the “Bubble Gum Punch” flavouring. I’m not eight years old anymore, and the idea of eating or drinking bubble gum doesn’t excite me as much as it used to. With that said, I’m grateful that I was pleasantly surprised! Payload-ATP doesn’t taste overly sweet or sugary at all, and the actual bubble gum taste is pretty subtle versus being overwhelming. It was really refreshing and unique. I was also surprised (in a good way!), that I couldn’t taste the caffeine in this product; usually if a pre-workout contains more than 200 milligrams of caffeine, I can tell right away because there’s this chalky undertaste—but not Payload! For 250 milligrams per scoop, I could barely tell! That is, until I actually worked out, of course! For a full 120 minutes of intense strength training and metabolic conditioning, I was riding a solid, sustained high. My energy didn’t fade, and I felt strong and able to keep going without losing steam at all. Five solid gold stars for Elemetx’s Payload-ATP!
