Muscle Insider was at the CHFA West at the Vancouver Convention Center earlier this year, where we got to sample Jackson’s Sweet Potato Chips for the first time. We only had the small little sample that was testing at the Peak Performance Products booth, but when we left the trade show that weekend, we knew we had to get our hands on more of these chips.
Taste and Flavour
Jackson’s Sweet Potato Chips are available in a wide range of flavours, prepared in either Avocado Oil, or Coconut Oil. These options also include either a regular thin sliced, or ripple-cut sweet potato chip. Flavour options include Sea Salt, Cheddar & Sour Cream, Farmhouse Ranch, Carolina BBQ, Spicy Jalapeño, Habanero Ranch, Unsalted, and Sea Salt Classic Kettle Chips. Our Muscle Insider taste testers had the chance to take a few of these flavours through some rigorous taste testing, which we take very seriously.
These flavours are no joke! The thin-sliced Sea Salt have just enough of a salty taste, without taking away from the high-quality sweet potatoes that are used. We were a little hesitant as to what the Spicy Jalapeño had in store for us, but it was really good. Just enough heat to feel it, but we thoroughly enjoyed the flavour. And where most other chip brands fall flat when it comes to a BBQ flavour, Jackson’s really kicks things up. You are not lacking in flavour when it comes to the Carolina BBQ chips. We need to get our hands on more of these ones, but maybe after we test out all the other flavours that are available.
Quality Ingredients
You’ll find that only premium Avocado and Coconut Oils are used to cook Jackson’s Sweet Potato Chips. The team has made the choice to stick with these oils and avoid other oils such as canola and sunflower —or poly-unsaturated fats, based on their experience that healthier fats make for better snacks. And really, who can argue with that theory. As for the sweet potatoes, they only use heirloom, non-GMO sweet potatoes sourced directly from farmers who know them best. So not only do you get great flavour, but a snack that is rich in fibre and loaded with antioxidants.
