AMI Trades $3 Million in Ads for Shares of MusclePharm

This is not a supplement review but it's supplement industry news worth sharing. American Media Inc. (AMI) has agreed to give $3 million in advertising to MusclePharm in exchange for more than 920,000 shares in their publicly traded company! AMI publishes Muscle & Fitness, Men’s Journal, Men’s Fitness, Muscle & Fitness Hers, Star, National Enquirer, Life & Style, Ok!, In Touch, Soap Opera Digest and several other magazines and website and also promote the Olympia fitness expo every year. AMI Chief Executive David Pecker called the deal “an extraordinary partnership”. This is not the first time MusclePharm has traded shares for advertising space but this is the first time this has been done with a massive media company as large as AMI. It is also a very creative way of incenting AMI to help really push MusclePharm supplements and will allow AMI to be part of their success if it works. With today’s market, both media sources and supplement companies need to create innovative ways to add value to their shareholders.
