This is not the first time we have heard of Hadi Choopan having difficulties acquiring a Visa to travel to the United States to compete. A campaign led by his trainer Hany Rambod, fighting to allow Hadi to travel and compete at the 2019 Mr. Olympia came down to the wire. With just over one month left before athletes step onto the 2020 Mr. Olympia stage, things are not looking so good for his Visa hopes.
One cannot deny the fact that Hadi Choopan is regarded one of the most talented bodybuilders in the world at this time. Our Muscle Insider team was fortunate enough to witness firsthand, Hadi’s first competition on North American soil, when he competed at the 2019 Vancouver Pro Show. With an up close and personal view of his entire backstage prep and then to watch him on stage, it was truly a sight to see.
Choopan was eventually able to make his debut last year in the U.S., at the 2019 Mr. Olympia. While he did not win the ultimate title as he was gunning for, he did earn the honor of being crowned People’s Champ as well as a third place win.
As if the road to the 2020 Mr. Olympia was not difficult enough, restrictions on travel this global pandemic has created, has only made things tougher. Hadi did take to Instagram where he confirmed his concerns over the likelihood of his Visa application not happening at all.
“Update regarding my visa status
I have no new visa till now. I have to do interview with US embassy officers and all the embassies and Consulates are closed except in UAE. But again I have to get UAE visa which seems to be very difficult nowadays. I am not sure whether I can get it in a right time.”
Just pray for me”
At last year’s Meet the Olympians, we had the chance to interview Choopan and Coach Hany Rambod, where we learned the details of just how hard the Visa process was. It was thrilling to see them there and to have the chance to speak with them. As time is running short to get everything in place, we are keeping our fingers crossed to see him at the 2020 Mr. Olympia. There is no doubt that if he does make it to that stage, he will not disappoint.
