Regan Grimes Leaves Oxygen Gym
On November 4th, 2017 Canadian IFBB Pro Regan Grimes left his home in London, Ontario and flew to Kuwait to train at the legendary Oxygen Gym. This was part of a sponsorship opportunity Oxygen Gym owner Bader Boodai offered Regan weeks earlier as he recognized his genetic potential, and determination to be a top pro. Athletes who get “sponsored” by Bader Boodai to train at Oxygen Gym get all their expenses paid and a support team of Bader’s camel crew that’s second to none. Imagine having guys paid to accompany you everywhere you go. Bros hired just to load and unload your weights, give you forced reps without even asking for them, making sure you never skip cardio, prepping all your food and ensuring that you eat, sleep and supplement at the exact time you’re scheduled to! They even take photos of you all the time to find just the right pics for Instagram. Speaking of Oxygen Gym, imagine a gym with the best of every piece of equipment ever made from anywhere in the world, all under one roof! At Oxygen gym, North American pro bodybuilders are treated like celebrities and Bader Boodai is at the helm of this movement. This seems like bodybuilding heaven!
Regan Grimes History
Born on June 26th, 1993 in Linsey, Ontario, Regan started competing in 2012 at a UFE show in Ontario where he placed 2nd and 1st in two classes. Two years later, he won the 2014 Mississauga Championships and placed 2nd at the provincial championships later that year. Regan struggled at the Canadian National Championships and the Arnold Amateur in Ohio but through hard work and the guidance of elite trainer Chris Aceto, Regan won his IFBB Pro card at the 2016 Arnold Sports Festival in Brazil. He also landed a contract with BPI Sports and placed 2nd one year later at the 2017 Vancouver Pro show behind bodybuilding veteran Michael Lockett. After his close second place finish, Regan flew to Los Angeles to train for the IFBB Tampa Pro show with a goal to win the show or gain enough points to qualify for the 2017 Olympia in September. Regan lived every bodybuilder’s dream in LA. Training at Gold’s Gym, Venice and “The Pit” at Muscle Beach, swimming and sun tanning on the beautiful beaches by day while having gut-busting workouts with elite pros like Shawn “Flexatron” Rhoden. Unfortunately, when his prep was finished he placed 6th in Tampa and had his Olympia goals crushed.
Oxygen Gym Sponsorship
In the fall around the time of the Olympia, Regan got what most bodybuilders in the world only dream of. The chance to get sponsored by Bader Boodai to train at the world famous Oxygen Gym in Kuwait with all of the perks that came with it. If you’ve been following the whole Bader Boodai Oxygen Gym storyline, you’ll know that the protocol athletes are put through has them gaining more size than at any point in their career. But it comes with a sacrifice. Regan had to agree to leave his family, fiancé, the gym he owns in London, all his friends and familiar surroundings back home so that he could train, eat and sleep free of all temptations and distractions. He also had to cut ties with his trainer Chris Aceto since The Camel Crew were now taking over his training, nutrition and supplement protocol as part of this sponsorship agreement. Regan decided all of this sacrifice was worth the gains he stood to make so he left for Kuwait on November 4th where he would stay until he returned home for Christmas.
Health & Longevity
While being home for his Christmas visit, Regan had a change of heart and decided he was not returning to Kuwait to continue his training sponsorship. This wasn’t a surprise to us as Victor Martinez, Shawn Rhoden and several other pros arrived at the same conclusion. But Regan also announced that he might also be switching over to compete in the Men’s Classic Physique category and sited health and longevity as possible reasons for this change. Regan said he will be posting a video on his YouTube channel to explain his reasons for leaving Kuwait which we are all anxious to see. As more information comes to light on this, we will keep you posted.
