As expected, the 2019 Olympia provided an incredible amount of excitement, as well as several new Champions of the sport. While much of the pre-hype leading into this year’s Olympia centered around the names that would not be competing, we never lost sight of the amazing physiques that did grace the stage.

Open Bodybuilding

It makes the most sense to start off with the results from the Open Bodybuilding category. While we did miss seeing the likes of Phil Heath, Big Ramy and Shawn Rhoden, this did not take away from the quality of physiques to choose from on stage. While there was much debate on the predicted outcome throughout the industry, all of us here at Muscle Insider were very confident that it would be Brandon Curry claiming the title of Mr. Olympia this year. The overall final placings of the top five are listed below.

First Place: Brandon Curry - $400,000

Second Place: William Bonac - $150,000

Third Place: Hadi Choopan - $100,000

Fourth Place: Dexter Jackson – $45,000

Fifth Place: Roelly Winklaar – $40,000

212 Bodybuilding

Since the departure of Flex Lewis from the 212 category after last year’s Olympia victory, it left the category wide open for another new Olympia Champion to be crowned in the 212 division. While we all got to witness a hard-fought battle, with many of the fans looking to see Shaun Clarida take the title, it was Kamal Elgargni that was the one to walk away with the victory. This was a very impressive top five.

First Place: Kamal Elgargni - $50,000

Second Place: Derek Lunsford – $20,000

Third Place: Shaun Clarida – $10,000

Fourth Place: John Jewett – $6,000

Fifth Place: Ahmad Ashkanani – $4,000

Classic Physique

This being the fourth year for Classic Physique competitors on the Mr. Olympia stage, we expected to see a tight race for the overall title this year. While the two-time Champion Breon Ansley always brings a nearly flawless physique every time he steps on stage, it seemed that all eyes were on Chris Bumstead. Being the runner up to Breon both years, Bumstead was determined to bring his ultimate best this year. We learned after the 2018 Olympia, that Chris had been dealing with some health issues that did not allow him to dial in as he would have normally. Even though this 2019 prep season was not without its hurdles, Chris Bumstead brought a physique to the Olympia stage that literally send chills down the spines of all of us watching him live. Fans everywhere were elated to hear his name announced as the new Classic Physique Mr. Olympia Champion. This was no small task, as the top five line up was stacked with stellar physiques.

First Place: Chris Bumstead – $30,000

Second Place: Breon Ansley – $10,000

Third Place: George Peterson – $5,000

Fourth Place: Keone Pearson – $3,000

Fifth Place: Chen Kang – $2,000

Bikini

As always, the Bikini Olympia division continues to draw a lot of attention. While the two-time Ms. Bikini Olympia Angelica Teixeira was feeling confident in the improvements she made since last year’s win, it turned out to be a battle between Elisa Pecini and Janet Layug. Both women brought amazing physiques to the stage, but when the dust settled, it was Elisa Pecini coming out victorious and earning the title of Ms. Bikini Olympia 2019.

First Place: Elisa Pecini – $50,000

Second Place: Janet Layug – $20,000

Third Place: Angelica Teixeira – $12,000

Fourth Place: Lauralie Chapados – $7,000

Fifth Place: Jennifer Dorie – $6,000

Fitness

For our team here at Muscle Insider, we consider the Fitness category to be the most difficult women’s division currently available. Not only do these women come in peak physical condition, but they also perform extremely complicated fitness routines. When we see what she brought to stage to win her second Ms. Fitness Olympia title, it appears that Whitney Jones is not looking to stop here.

First Place: Whitney Jones – $50,000

Second Place: Missy Truscott – $20,000

Third Place: Ryall Graber – $12,000

Fourth Place: Jaclyn Baker – $7,000

Fifth Place: Tiffany Chandler – $6,000

Women’s Physique

We were watching the Women’s Physique division closely this year, as there was some tough competition. Seeing that this category saw an increase in the prize money payout, especially for the winner, we wanted to see who truly wanted it more than the others. At the end of the day, we saw Shanique Grant walk away with her second Ms. Physique Olympia Championship title!

First Place: Shanique Grant – $40,000

Second Place: Sarah Villegas – $18,000

Third Place: Natalia Abraham Coelho – $12,000

Fourth Place: Daniely Castilho – $6,000

Fifth Place: Laura Pintado Chinchilla – $4,000

Men’s Physique

After seeing Andre Ferguson dominate this year’s Arnold Classic in Ohio, we were expecting to see him and the reigning Mr. Olympia Men’s Physique Champion Brandon Hendrickson battling it out for the coveted top spot. Not taking anything away from what he brought to stage, which was so impressive, but Raymont Edmonds was a bit of a dark horse coming into the show this past weekend. With this changing of the guard, Raymont ushers in a different physique from what we have seen in our previous Olympia Men’s Physique Champions of the past.

First Place: Raymont Edmunds – $35,000

Second Place: Andre Ferguson – $12,000

Third Place: Kyron Holden – $8,000

Fourth Place: Brandon Hendrickson – $4,000

Fifth Place: Ryan Terry, $2,000

Figure

The Figure Olympia division has become a showcase for some of the top female athletes in the sport. Despite a very competitive class of women, it was the reigning champion Cydney Gillon that would take home the title of Ms. Figure Olympia for the third time. This win makes her only the second woman to win three consecutive Ms. Figure Olympia titles. We would not be surprised for her to make it four next year.

First Place: Cydney Gillon – $50,000

Second Place: Latorya Watts – $20,000

Third Place: Nadia Wyatt – $12,000

Fourth Place: Jessica Reyes Padilla – $7,000

Fifth Place: Carly Starling-Horrell – $6,000
