2016 NEW BRUNSWICK BODYBUILDING, PHYSIQUE, FIGURE & BIKINI CHAMPIONSHIPS
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2016 AT THE FREDERICTON PLAYHOUSE

This year’s NBPFA Provincial Championships will be held at the Fredericton Playhouse in Fredericton NB.

It will also be the first year that the NBPFA Executive promotes the event. Things have evolved tremendously the past 10 years only seeing less than 50 competitors on stage. This year, we have a
record breaking number of athletes for the New Brunswick Championships, 140 registrants. This is a huge increase from previous shows. Our divisions consist of Men’s Bodybuilding, Women’s Physique,

Men’s Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Figure and Bikini.
Our biggest numbers appear to be in the popular Bikini Division with over 65 athletes spread out between 5 height classes; A, B, C, D and E.

NBPFA President Heather LeBlanc explains; “The increase in numbers for Bikini has soared higher than our expectations.” “I honestly feel this popularity stems from the belief that Bikini girls do train hard and are NOT your typical beach body physique you would see at Parlee Beach.” “This type of physique is attainable through hard work, perseverance, discipline and training 6 sometimes 7 days a week.” “It is mythical and unfounded that Bikini girls do not train hard and as you can see from the numbers and popularity, it’s a crowd pleaser and very motivating for fans sitting in the audience who need that extra push to lose weight or get in shape.”

Adam Walker, Vice President of the NBPFA remarks “we hold approximately 2-3 educational seminars per year, we believe our numbers continue to rise due to awareness and preparation preached at our seminars.” “Athletes have more information on what’s involved in getting ready for the stage and the
tools they need to take that first step onto a competition stage.” “Our vision is to promote the sport, increase participation and give them an attainable goal to work towards.” “It’s the journey that’s most important to the NBPFA, not the destination.”

There are less than 25 bodybuilders competing for the title. Expecting great things from Heavyweight Corey Janes from Fredericton NB battling it out with SJ Fall Classic Overall winner Mike Gray, also from Fredericton. Don’t count out Alton Dunn from Miramichi NB and the young blood Charles Martin who won the Junior Men division at the past SJ Fall Classic.

Bikini competition will be across the board with Moncton’s Melanie Leger winning the SJ Fall Classic overall Bikini Title going head to head with Atlantic Classic Bikini Champion Annelle Petitpas. Don’t
count out Nadege Corcoran who will be also vying for the title.
Figure numbers are steadily on the rise and all eyes will be on Fredericton’s Kelsey Wilson, a true veteran who’s been competing since 2009. She was runner-up at the International World Qualifier and is vying for the Overall title. It won’t be handed over that easily with Portia Marsh who won the SJ Fall Classic Overall title less than 2 weeks ago. In Men’s Physique expect great things from Moncton’s
Andrew Arseneau who also won the Overall Men’s Physique title in Saint John and is vying for a double overall title. In Men’s Classic Physique, Moncton’s Daniel Drover will be crossing over from bodybuilding into this popular “Frank Zane” classic style of bodybuilding division. This division is becoming quite popular in the past year and NB expects to see 6 of them on stage battling it out for the title. Atlantic Champion Chrysa Lewis will be competing for the title for the 2016 Women’s Physique Class.
