World’s Biggest Bodybuilder Martyn Ford Set to Make MMA Debut
British bodybuilder, pro wrestler, and actor Martyn Ford, 36, who at 6'8" and 320 pounds towers over his competition, has announced his signing with a mixed martial arts organization in Poland in preparation for his pro debut in 2019. The social-media star signed with Poland’s MMA KSW (Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki).
Trained and represented in Britain by Mogul Fight Management, Ford has starred in a number of films, including Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), Redcon-1 (2018), Accident Man (2018), and Final Score (2018). Check out this highly entertaining but super-intimidating clip.
By all accounts, he should be dead. As a two-month-old infant, he had intestinal intussusception and required emergency surgery. As a teenager, he had a severe bout with infectious mononucleosis, which sidelined him for almost a year.
Just last March, Ford believes he ate some bad eggs that caused severe food poisoning. After 10 days of pain, vomiting, and a lack of appetite—in part due, he says, to overdosing on gas-relief tablets—Ford returned to the UK to see a doctor.
As it turned out, scar tissue that formed from Ford’s decades’ earlier intussusception surgery caused blockage and required life-saving emergency surgery, and his recovery is well underway.
