The energy drink market is as massive as ever, and it isn’t only fitness influencers working with these brands. They have crossed over into mainstream awareness. One example is Flo Rida, the hip-hop mogul that was involved with Celsius during their rise in the market. However, their relationship has fallen apart and even resulted in a breach-of-contract lawsuit that saw both sides in court.

The lawsuit in a judge awarding Flo Rida a decision that will result in him seeing $82 million USD in damages. The jury determined that Celsius were found guilty for violating a sponsorship agreement that the two parties entered into back in 2014. They also found that Celsius intentionally withheld information that the music icon should’ve been entitled to knowing.

According to Law and Crime, the exact amount that Flo Rida (real name Tramar Dillard) is entitled to comes out to $82,640,450 USD. His attorneys had gone on record for saying that he was not looking for a specific dollar amount, nor was he asking for anything beyond what he should have received. All the singer of “Low” and “Wild Ones” wanted was the equivalent of the 1% ownership he was already entitled to. The dollar amount is what was determined to be that amount.

"This was a long journey, but we prevailed. From the start, I only wanted what I worked for-nothing more, nothing less. I was instrumental in the Celsius that you know and love today," Flo Rida said in a statement released to the media.

Beyond the original agreement in 2014, both parties agreed to extend that relationship in 2016, according to Forbes. That deal included stock options and bonuses that would be made after certain sales targets were achieved. Rida’s team argued that the contract was vague which prevented him from taking advantage of those incentives. After waiting until 2021 to receive what he felt he was entitled to, the decision was finally made to take legal action.

In this video from January 20th, 2023, Flo Rida posted a video on his Instagram with different people while holding cans of Celsius. His hit “What a Night” can be heard during the video. It’s clear that he still believes in the product itself, considering he still makes post with the Celsius drinks in his hand. Or, it could be a victory lap with the decision that was made.

He also shared a post of himself wearing a Miami Dolphins jersey with the number 82, which he called his “new favorite number.”

As of this writing, Celsius had yet to make a statement regarding the case.
