There are a few sources now as well as an official press release from EINPresswire.com reporting that legendary bodybuilding champion Flex Wheeler has undergone emergency surgery.

It’s a story line that has been just rumour and slowly developing over the last few days, but the press release confirms that Flex has had a partial amputation of his right leg. The cause has to be confirmed, but rumour has it, the amputation is a result of complications due to a collapsed vein. We’ll report more as news develops.

Flex is best known for his physique. In our opinion, he has one of the most complete physiques to ever step on a bodybuilding stage displaying full muscle bellies, a small waist, unparalleled symmetry and great conditioning making him a threat to win every time he competed. He has won numerous titles and boasts one of the best IFBB Pro League debuts in the history of bodybuilding after winning the overall title at the 1992 USA Championships. In 1993 he won the Ironman Pro Invitational, Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic, Grand Prix France, Grand Prix Germany and placed 2ndat his first Olympia that year. Unfortunately, his streak was derailed by a life threatening car accident in 1994. That being said, he came back in 1995 winning his first appearance on stage that year at the Ironman Pro Invitational. He went on to have a very successful career with 4 wins at the Arnold Classic, 5 wins at the Ironman Pro as well as wins at the South Beach Pro Invitational, Hungarian Grand Prix, Night Of Champions and the France Grand Prix. He made an inspiring comeback in 2017 competing at the Olympia in the Classic Physique Division.

In August of 2018, a very deserving Flex was honoured with the prestigious Ben Weider Lifetime Achievement Award.

Through all his successes, Kenneth Flex Wheeler has had a rather turbulent life, but has risen above adversity every time. We’re sure he will do the same here. We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery. Hang in there champ…you still have a lot of people to inspire!
