Ed Van Amsterdam dead at 40 of an apparent heart attack! Ed was an IFBB Pro bodybuilder out of Amsterdam, the Netherlands known for his height in a sport where most bodybuilders aren’t usually over 5’9”. He hulked over his competitors at 6’2” weighing in at close to 265lbs with an off-season weight of 300lbs! Ed was a creative poser that kept the crowd entertained to the very end. He leaves behind his wife and two children.

Steroids To Blame?

The press have jumped on this tragic story and pointed the finger at steroids as the cause of his heart failure. But Ed was no stranger to hard living and the party lifestyle. He confessed to MUSCLE INSIDER's Jeff Lavictoire that he drank copius amounts of hard liquor every day of the week as they slammed back JaggerBombs in Las Vegas. Nobody knows what the exact cause of his heart problems were but the age of 40 is simply too young to face this type of tragedy and we expect this story to get further attention in the medical community and press.
