As many of our readers of muscleinsider.com know, there’s been a split between the IFBB Pro League (ran by Jim Manion) and the IFBB Amateur League (ran by Rafael Santonja). The IFBB Pro League is sanctions the popular pro shows around the world like the Toronto Pro Supershow, Vancovuer Pro show, Arnold Sports Festival (Columbus and Australia) and of course the Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend.

Canadian Physique Alliance (CPA)

Here in Canada, a new federation has formed called the Canadian Physique Alliance (CPA) which is now the official Canadian amateur stream of the IFBB Pro League. That is, this federation “feeds into” the pro league. The CPA will be sanctioning contests across Canada which will qualify athletes to compete in any of the 4 pro qualifying shows taking place in 2018. Three of these contests will take place in Ontario and one will take place at the Vancouver Pro show in July. The CPA will be following the judging criteria of the National Physique Committee (NPC) which is the amateur federation in the U.S. This way the IFBB Pro League will unify NPC judging criteria, rules and regulations across North America. IFBB Pro qualfying shows will also take place all of the world in 2018 which will unify the amateur stream with the pro steam since they will all be one company rather than two separate companies like it’s been for many years. The initial contest schedule for 2018 has been posted at this link, but more shows are being added each week.

Stay tuned for how this will play out in the 2018, and check out muscleinsider.com for more info!
