While six-time winner Flex Lewis is making September’s run for the 212 Olympia title his last, another perennial top-five winner will also be doing the same. Boston’s Jose Raymond, who has finished as high as runner-up at the 2015 212 Olympia and third on four occasions, shared his struggle with an imminent hip replacement.

Raymond states in his YouTube video series that he’s on target - possibly even ahead of schedule - for the Olympia. Raymond admits that he’s “enjoying every last moment of prep because I won’t be able to do it again.” Raymond has also taken to guest posing in shows like the NPC Patriot Cup and The Viking Classic, truly enjoying his last year on the pro circuit.

He says, “It’s as if I get a runner’s high from it. I don’t know if it’s because my career is coming to an end.”

With two top competitors out of the lineup, look for a changing of the guard in 2019.
