Bodybuilding’s #1 Journalist Joins Muscle Insider

Little did we know when we first started Muscle Insider in 2009 that the bodybuilding industry would be going through so many changes. Magazines like MuscleMag, Iron Man, Status and several others are no longer being printed, while others are struggling. At MUSCLE INSIDER, we’ve found a niche covering the science of building muscle and the latest fitness trends and events north of the border, but that doesn’t mean we’ve been sheltered from the economic earthquakes going through the industry globally. Challenges in media present opportunities, and for us, we’re proud to announce that we’ve teamed up with Bill Geiger, MA who is regarded as bodybuilding’s most accomplished editor.

Meet Our New Editor

Bill received his Masters degree from the University of Southern California, studying sports journalism, physical education, and sports marketing. He went on to lead the editorial and art teams at Muscle & Fitness and Muscle & Fitness Hers, where he worked for 14 years. He was then recruited to work as Group Editorial Director at MuscleMag and Reps! magazine, where he worked for 6 years under Canadian publishing legend Robert Kennedy. Bill then moved to Idaho to serve as the Senior Content Editor with Bodybuilding.com, which lasted 3 years. Bill has authored and edited 16 books and special-interest publications, has been cited for numerous national writing awards, and collaborated with Arnold Schwarzenegger on his "New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.”

The New Direction of MUSCLE INSIDER

Our promise is to bring readers a breadth of insider techniques and tips that can improve how you train, starting with your very next workout, regardless of whether you’re a newbie or advanced lifter. We give you the tools, but you still have to do the lifting. With each issue, you’ll see a reinvigorated focus on building muscle and burning fat through training, nutrition, and supplementation to give you the tools to achieve your physique, strength, or performance goals. But we’re going much deeper than providing a list of exercises, sets, and reps because the focus is on not just what works, but the why and how too, information that’s backed by exercise science or real-world lab rats just like you. This new editorial direction will also carry over to muscleinsider.com and our various social media pages.

“Many readers know us for our contest coverage which is lead by Domenic Mauro, but we also work with some of the smartest science writers in the industry. Under Bill Geiger’s leadership, you’ll start seeing us better leverage these writers while also adding new contributors to the team. We will also no longer publish content that fails to give readers helpful tips they can apply that day in the gym or at the dinner table. Too often we’ve presented the pros and cons of various topics but didn't take a stance on what “theory” was best and we simply didn't give people a recommendation on what they should do with the information. Our new issue has addressed all of these areas of improvement which we’re rolling out to our digital platforms simultaneously.” – Scott Welch, Publisher
