Bodybuilder Dies Attempting a Backflip at a Contest!

Print Share this

One of our bodybuilding brothers of iron has died after attempting to do a backflip at a bodybuilding contest! Sifiso Lungelo Thabete tried to get the crowd fired up by doing a backflip but it went horribly wrong when he didn’t rotate far enough and landed on his head, breaking his neck!

Thabete who is from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa was an IFBB Junior World Champion in the up-to 75kg category who recently won an event at the IFBB Muscle Mulisha Grand Prix in July. Thabete won the Under-23, over 75kg division of the competition held in Johannesburg, where he successfully performed the backflip during his routine! Our thoughts and prayers extend to Sifiso Lungelo Thabete and his family and friends. With the Rich Piana coma tragedy, the German bodybuilding coach who shot a tanner for smearing the tan of his client, and several other disappointing storlines, we've had some bad luck in bodybulding this summer.
