Big Ramy Quits Oxygen Gym
At the start of his career, Big Ramy moved to Kuwait to help his six brothers run a fishing business. While hauling in tuna and sea monsters, Big Ramy took on a part-time job at an Oxygen Gym location with the dream to one day “get sponsored” by gym owner Bader Boodai. To fast track his gains, Big Ramy hired IFBB Pro Dennis James to train him and Ramy gained an astonishing amount of muscle. Bader realized Ramy’s potential and decided to sponsor him, allowing him to train, eat and sleep with no financial worries. In one year, Ramy won the New York Pro and had quickly made a name for himself. But aside from training him, Dennis had a major influence on Ramy’s career and can be credited for introducing him to the bodybuilding world in North America through his media contacts. Even before he made his pro debut, Dennis had hyped him up to everyone in the industry and it wasn’t long before Ramy and Dennis James both got sponsored by both GAT and Gorilla Wear as a package deal.
Remember When Big Ramy Dumped Dennis James?
Bader Boodai has a massive business with his Oxygen Gym chain, supplement distribution company and his contest promotion business. Part of the promotion of these businesses is through his marketing of his coaching of famous pros like Big Ramy, Brandon Curry and others. Bader has his team of trainers which Dennis James nicknamed “The Camal Crew” a name that has stuck ever since. But it wasn’t long before Ramy decided it was in his best interest to stop being trained by Dennis James. Ramy then hired contest prep guru Chris Aceto for a brief stint then dumped him and hired George Farah! He then went back to Chris Aceto and at one point even had Chris Cormier taking care of his training, posing and the psychology of being a top pro! But at the base of all of the changes in coaching, Bader Bodai was still sponsoring Ramy to train at Oxygen Gym and we’re told the Camel Crew were still heavily involved in guiding Ramy on his diet and training.
Big Ramy Quits Oxygen Gym
After years of living away from his family in Kuwait, Ramy has decided to quit Oxygen Gym and move back to Egypt with his wife and two kids. He’s also looking for a new trainer and according to Dave Palumbo, Ramy has been in contact with Hany Rambod! Give than Hany works with Phil Heath, this could be a conflict of interest that we suspect Phil Heath might not want to see come to life, but Chris Aceto is also a likely candidate give his previous relationship with Ramy and the success he had with Shawn Rhoden in winning the Olympia this year. No matter which trainer he chooses, Ramy definitely needs to change things up to improve. He has no problem adding size, but he lacks the ability to come in ripped to shreds. Chris Aceto would be. Great choice for diet and we would love to see what Charles Glass or Chris Psychofitness could do with Ramy’s physique training wise.
