2021 Arnold Sports Festival South America Date Moved to October
With a year that saw many bodybuilding shows canceled or dates postponed, promoters have announced that the 2021 Arnold Sports Festival South America has been moved to the weekend of October 29-31, 2021. The 2020 Arnold Classic in Ohio almost didn’t happen due to the global pandemic, and promoters are looking to avoid the same kind of issues for South America’s largest multi-sport event. With annual attendance on the rise, the event tends to attract nearly 100,000 people to experience bodybuilding and sporting events, meeting sports icons, product tastings, the latest innovations in fitness equipment, and so much more.
The Arnold Sports Festival USA is rumoured to be taking place in September, but this is still not confirmed by the promoters yet. If this does take place, how close will this be to when the Olympia will take place which usually takes place in September? We hope that they space these shows apart and would love to see the 2021 Olympia stay in December to conclude the year, but at the start of the month to allow people time before the Christmas holidays. In Canada, government requirements require all people coming back into Canada must pass a Covid-19 test before boarding a plane to come here and must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival. Many competitors, fans, and sponsors are reluctant to quarantine for that long over Christmas.
There is an interesting fact that also contributes to pushing back the date for the Arnold Classic Ohio. As of April 2020, the Greater Columbus Convention Center, where the Arnold Fitness Festival Expo is held, has been transformed into a makeshift Coronavirus hospital. This has been used as somewhat of a backstop to local hospitals if cases of COVID-19 surge.
