“The Miracle Bear” Urs Kalecinski is coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2021 Olympia, and he goes into the 2022 Arnold Classic’s Classic Physique contest in Columbus, Ohio as a top contender. Leading up to the show, he had pledged to stay in the shadows and do the work in silence. Conversely, defending Arnold champion Terrence Ruffin and former Classic Physique Olympia champion Breon Ansley have shared images of how they’re looking leading up to the contest.

Kalecinski’s reasoning for his decision was unclear. However, he broke that pledge with an Instagram post on Sunday, Feb. 27 that reveals himself in close to contest shape.

“From the shadow into the light,” the caption reads. It does not say at what point in his prep that the image is taken. Many competitors have refused to say when their photos were taken during their preps. Regardless of when it was taken, it was met with plenty of support and admiration when it was posted. As of this writing, the post had received over 60,000 likes and over 2,000 comments – many of which are overwhelmingly positive.

Kalecinski will be one of ten athletes gracing the stage at the Battelle Grand Ballroom in the Greater Columbus Convention Center. If he wins the competition, he will be the fifth different champion in the contest’s five-year history. It won’t be easy for him because both Ruffin and Ansley are vying for the honor of being the contest’s first two-time champion. The image that the Miracle Bear posted made his intentions clear – he's going for the win.
