Phil Heath To Host The 2022 Olympia Weekend
There are many questions and a lot of speculation about what is going to happen at the 2022 Olympia Weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada on the weekend of Dec. 16-18. Some of that speculation was regarding seven-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. Heath will be involved in the big weekend, but it will be in a new role.
On July 16th, Heath announced on LinkedIn that he will be “taking his talents to the broadcast booth” and serve as the lead announcer of the live Olympia Webcast. This will be his first time serving in that role.
“The Olympia has meant so much to me and my legacy.” explained Heath in the press release. “I’m always looking for new ways to connect with fans and I’m grateful to Jake Wood, Dan Solomon and the entire Olympia team for this opportunity. This year’s Olympia is loaded with incredible storylines and rivalries. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Vegas.”
Heath will be able to bring a unique perspective to the commentary because he’s shared the stage with several of the stars that will be in the lineup at Planet Hollywood, including current Mr. Olympia Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay, 2019 Mr. Olympia Brandon Curry, and two-time Arnold Classic Champion William Bonac. It will be interesting to hear his thoughts about some of the new stars in the sport, including 2021 Arnold Classic Champion Nick Walker, Hunter Labrada, and fellow Hany Rambod client, Hadi Choopan.
While Heath may be new to that position specifically, it won’t be his first time in front of a microphone. During his reign as Mr. Olympia, Heath had taken bodybuilding and his title onto mainstream TV networks and platforms such as ESPN, Bloomberg, and others. Over the last several months, he’d been featured on personal growth podcasts such as “The School of Greatness” with Lewis Howes and “Valuetainment” with Patrick Bet-David. Even though it’s been almost two years since his last contest, he’s still promoting the sport as he did when he was on top of it.
The Mr. Olympia Instagram page shared the news in a post of their own as well, and the news was well received.
The 2022 Olympia pay-per-view will be sponsored by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals. As of this writing, no other details regarding the pay-per-view or the announce team have been shared. Past Olympia streams have featured a variety of announcers including Shawn Ray, Tim Wilkins, and Dan Solomon, who now serves as the Olympia President. The press release concluded by sharing that more information regarding the pay-per-view will be shared in the near future at www.olympiaproductions.com.
