Contest Coverage Sponsored by MUTANT

A strength sports tradition is upon us. The 2025 editions of the Arnold Strongman and Strongwoman Classic are set to take place as part of the 2025 Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, OH on the weekend of Feb. 28 – Mar. 1. The men’s version of the event is one of the most prestigious titles in Strongman, and the women’s contest is considered the number one contest for their sport.

The two-day event will take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Whether you are new to these sports or are excited to see your favorite athletes compete, we got you covered with the previews for both competitions.

Arnold Strongman Classic

The roster for this event is below, highlighted by two-time defending champion Mitchell Hooper and three-time winner Hafthór Björnsson. Three-time and reigning World’s Strongest Man winner Tom Stoltman is in the contest as well, but this event has been one he has yet to win. The full lineup is below.

  • Mitchell Hooper (Defending champion)
  • Austin Andrade
  • Hafthór Björnsson
  • Maxime Boudreault
  • Nick Guardione
  • Lucas Hatton
  • Trey Mitchell
  • Evan Singleton
  • Tom Stoltman
  • Bobby Thompson

Six events over two days will test these men and push them beyond their previously conceived limits to see who will leave as champion. This contest has a reputation for having the heaviest weights of any show in the sport, so they will have to be and stay on point from start to finish. The events are as follows.

Feb. 28 Events

  • Elephant Bar Deadlift (Max Weight)
  • Overhead Gauntlet
  • Frame Carry (no straps allowed)

Mar. 1 Events

  • The Big Jerk (Max Weight)
  • Timber Text
  • Atlas Stone to Shoulder

One key event to watch is the Elephant Bar Deadlift. The promoters have offered a bonus prize for the man that can break the elusive 501 kg (1,104 pound) mark on the deadlift. Bjornsson holds the world record for most weight lifted on a traditional strongman deadlift, and he has made it known that he wants this record as well.

Arnold Strongwoman Classic

The ladies will be competing at the same time as the men, and they had the crowd even louder than the men in 2024. The lineup for this contest is a Who’s Who of Strongwoman competition.

  • Angelica Jardine (Defending Champion)
  • Inez Carrasquillo
  • Gabi Dixson
  • Olga Liashchuk
  • Jennifer Lyle
  • Erin Murray
  • Melissa Peacock
  • Rebecca Roberts
  • Sam Belliveau
  • Nadia Stowers
  • Andrea Thompson
  • Lucy Underdown

The women will have the same event schedule as the men, and once again, the Max Deadlift event is the one to watch. Underdown has lifted as much as 700 pounds in the past, and there will be others looking to break that mark. There are some strong pressers in this group as well, making the first event of day two another must-see show.

Fans that plan to be in Columbus should purchase tickets from the Arnold Sports website to see the best of the best compete, and history possibly be made. Viewers at home can register for the free livestream so they can watch every lift live, as it happens from Ohio. Muscle Insider will provide results for both competitions once they have concluded.
