2022 Vancity Showdown Preview

By Roger Lockridge

Vancouver, BC has become a bodybuilding hotbed, and they will prove it when they put on the Vancity Pro 212 contest this weekend. The contest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 1st in Burnaby. There are seven men scheduled to compete as of September 30th. Let’s take a look and predict a winner.

  • Mahmood Al Durrah
  • Chris Buhr
  • Jamie Do Rogo
  • Cody Drobot
  • Kevin Johnson
  • Romain Ramassamy
  • David Robinson

Chris Buhr

Chris Buhr made his pro debut at the Vancover Pro earlier this year, where he placed 7th. He earned his pro card by winning the Vancouver Pro Qualifier. He hopes that his third time competing in this city will earn him an Olympia qualification. But he's going to have to get through one hell of a lineup!

Jamie Do Rogo

Do Rogo hasn’t competed since 2020, when he placed sixth at the British Grand Prix. He took 2021 off, and this is his first contest of 2022. He has an impressive upper body, and it will be interesting to see how much he has improved in his time off.

Cody Drobot

Drobot was fourth in Tampa earlier this year and placed second in Texas. He pro card in Vancover. He would be wise to take the qualification if he wins this show.

Kevin Johnson

Johnson has been active in both 212 and Classic Physique. He has placed 10th twice in the 212 this season. He is guaranteed to place higher for this show. He's searching for his first pro win.

Romain Ramassamy

Romassamy will be making his 212 debut at this show, but he has competed in Classic Physique. His lone appearance was a second-place effort in Toronto in 2021. He has wide shoulders and a big chest. Those assets will serve him well.

David Robinson

Robinson has competed in Classic Physique as well as 212. His quads stand out in his front poses, and he has a pretty good back too.

Mahmood Al Durrah

Nobody saw this guy coming as he decided at the last minute to jump into this show! Coming back from a three-year layoff after having back surgery, Al Durrah hopes to win this show and get his Mr.Olympia qualification. He is the most experienced competitor and our odds on to win the show if he can replicate the size and conditioning that made him an Olympia contender.

Predictions

The winner of this contest will be qualified for the 2022 Olympia, while the rest of the top five will earn points on the qualification system. Here is how we see the top four for this contest.
