2022 San Antonio Pro Predictions

By:
Roger Lockridge

The IFBB Pro League makes a stop on the road to the 2022 Olympia in the Lone Star State. The 2022 San Antonio Pro will be held on Saturday, September 24 in San Antonio, Texas. Four divisions – Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Figure, and Bikini will host contests with the winners earning automatic qualifications to the Olympia this December. Here’s a quick look at each of the previews and who we think will take the wins.

Classic Physique

Christopher Hunte

Hunte competed in the Lenda Murray Savannah Pro earlier in the season, and he placed second.  He has won one show in his career, and he graced the Olympia stage in 2020, placing 15th. The past taste of success combined with momentum placing second already this year makes him a favorite.

Jared Keys

The rookie has made the most out of his first campaign in the IFBB Pro League. He’s competed five times already, with his highest placing being third at the 2022 Warrior Classic Pro. He may have gained enough experience to know how to peak properly, but hopefully his body isn’t too worn down from competing so many times.

Will Sage

Sage finished in fifth place at the Savannah show, and he was second at the 2022 Southwest Muscle Classic Pro. He should make first callout in this show, and if the other competitors are off the mark, anything can happen for him.

  • Eric Wildberger

Men’s Physique

George Brown

Brown has a wealth of experience because he is in his 10th season as a pro. The former New York Pro winner has placed as high as sixth on the Olympia stage. He has yet to win a contest this season, and he’s competed twice already, but a victory for him is due, and this could be it.

Reuben Glass

Glass came in second at the Optimum Classic Pro in May. He has wide shoulders and great chest development. He is in his third year as a pro, and is still looking for his first trip to the Olympia. If he shows up shredded, a win for him is a serious possibility.

Chevy Phillips

Phillips is representing Canada at this contest, and he’s on the hunt for his first pro win. He was third in the Toronto Pro, and fifth in the Optimum Pro Classic. There are a lot of men in this field, but we think he can stand out and place high in Texas.\

Figure

Autumn Cleveland

Cleveland is in the lead in the Olympia Points Standings, and she is likely going to earn one of those three positions to move on to Las Vegas. However, nothing is better than winning your way to the big stage, and that is what she truly wants. She’s been in second multiple times this year. This is as great of an opportunity to win as she will get this year.

Martina Yabekova

Yabekova finished in fifth place at the Sasquatch Pro earlier this month. She has wide shoulders and lats, which could be her greatest assets. She hasn’t won a show since placing first in the 2019 Border States contest. She does have four wins to her credit in her career since turning pro in 2016. You can’t write her off in any show.

Jessica Baltazar

Baltazar placed fifth earlier this year at the Zhanna Rotar Classic Pro. She is a Masters competitor, but she has done pretty well in open lineups as well. It wouldn’t be a shock to see the California native place high here.

Bikini

Aleesia Facchin

Facchin is the only athlete in this lineup that was onstage at the 2021 Olympia. She placed 14th. She has already competed 8 times in 2022. She hasn’t placed outside of 8th in any of those shows, but she hasn’t won any of them, either. This is as good of a chance as she could have before the Olympia.

Christina Friscia

The 2022 NPC Junior Nationals winner will make her pro debut at this show. What a story it would be if she were to win her pro debut and go from amateur to Olympian in one calendar year. She has the structure to do it, but the question is if she will be able to handle the extra pressure that comes with competing on a pro stage versus an amateur one.

Marisela Taylor

Another pro debut here, and she is a home state competitor. Taylor is coming off a win at the North Americans, and she was very impressive in that contest. Her legs were ripped, and her upper body looked great from all sides. She can easily be in the first callout, and a top three placing would be a nice feather in her cap.
