Cedric McMillan Wins Arnold Classic For Career-Defining Victory

Cedric McMillan of Heath Springs, South Carolina outlasted fast-rising Dallas “Big Country” McCarver of Blue Goose, Tenn., to win the prestigious Arnold Classic for the first time and finally notch the career-defining victory that has long eluded the popular eight-year IFBB Pro League veteran. McMillan finished second to Kai Greene last year and had finished in the top 6 in Columbus in each of the past four years,

McMillan received congratulations from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a check for $130,000, a Tony Nowak Official Champions Jacket and the champion’s trophy from Catherine Colle of Midway Labs USA and Jeff Howe of Optimum Nutrition.

McCarver, 25, who many believe is on a fast-track to the top of the sport, received $75,000 and a medal from ROGUE Fitness and BSN.

Maxx Charles, an upstart pro from Huntington, New York, was third and received $50,000 from Muscle & Fitness Magazine and The Columbus Dispatch. Charles was seventh in his Arnold Classic debut in 2016.
Lionel Beyeke of France was fourth and received $30,000 from Animal and Ultimate Nutrition. The finish was his best in three appearances in the Arnold Classic.
Juan “Diesel” Morel of Deer Park, New York was fifth and received $15,000 from Rule One Proteins and Complete Nutrition. Morel was sixth in his Arnold Classic debut in 2016.
Fouad “Hoss” Abiad of Canada, competing in thee Arnold Classic for the fourth time, was sixth and received $10,000 from Muscle Egg and Generation Iron. His previous best finish was 10th in 2013.
Also competing and finishing seventh through 10th, respectively, were Michael Lockett of Cleveland, Ohio; Luke Sandoe of the United Kingdom; Vitaly Fateev of Russia; and Will Harris of Los Angeles, Calif.

Brasilian Native Angelica Teixeira Wins 2017 Bikini International

Angelica Teixeira, a native of Brasil who lives in Bergenfield New Jersey, won the Bikini International for the biggest victory of her short IFBB Pro League career. Teixeira, who won her third contest since turning pro in 2015, received congratulations from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, $7,000, a Tony Nowak Official Champions Jacket and the champion’s trophy from Catherine Colle Midway Labs USA and Jeff Howe of Optimum Nutrition. Teixeira was fourth in Columbus in her Bikini International debut in 2016.

The remainder of the Bikini International top six:

  • 2nd place: Courtney King of Chicago, Ill., received $3,000 and a trophy from ROGUE Fitness and Ultimate Nutrition.
  • 3rd place: Jennifer Ronzitti of Severna Park, Md., received $2,000 and a trophy from Jan Tana and BSN.
  • 4th place: Janet Layug of Lakeland, Fla., received $1,000 and a trophy from Animal and MHP.
  • 5th place:  India Paulino of Weston, Fla., received $1,000 and a trophy from Muscle Egg and SBD Apparel.
  • 6th place:  Justine Munro of Canada received $1,000 and a trophy from Cytosport and Allmax.

Ryan Terry Outlasts Large Field To Win Arnold Men’s Physique

Ryan Terry of England outlasted a field of 35 competitors to win the Arnold Classic Men’s Physique for the biggest win of his three-year career in the IFBB Pro League. Terry received congratulations from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, $5,000, a Tony Nowak Official Champions Jacket and the champion’s trophy from Jeff Howe of Optimum Nutrition and Catherine Colle of Midway Labs USA. Terry was fourth in Columbus in 2016.

The remainder of the Arnold Men’s Physique top six:

  • 2nd place: Andre Ferguson received $2,000 and a trophy from ROGUE Fitness and Muscle & Fitness Magazine.
  • 3rd place: Defending champion Brandon Hendrickson of Bartlett, Ill., received $1,500 and a trophy from The Columbus Dispatch and Complete Nutrition.
  • 4th place: George Brown of Columbus, Ohio received $1,500 and a trophy from Ultimate Nutrition and Generation Iron.
  • 5th place: Jeremy Potvin received $1,000 and a trophy from Rule One Proteins and VPX.
  • 6th place: Raymont Edmonds received $500 and a trophy from Rivalus and Animal.

Harold “King Kong” Kelley Wins 2nd Straight Arnold Classic Pro Wheelchair

Harold Kelley of Grand Prairie, Texas, continued his dominance of the sport of professional wheelchair bodybuilding when he won the Arnold Classic Pro Wheelchair Presented by Bodybuilding.com for the second straight year.

Kelly earned $3,000 and a one-of-a-kind Arnold Classic Pro Wheelchair Championship Ring from event founder Nick Scott. Gabriele Andriulli of Italy finished second and earned $2,000, while Daniel Minster of Czech Republic was third and earned $1,000. Adelfo Cerame Jr. of Cerritos, Calif., was fourth and Antoni Khadraoui of Sweden was fifth. Cerame Jr. was named Best Poser and earned an extra $1,000.

Lifetime Achievement Award – Betty Weider

Arnold Sports Festival promoters Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and James J. Lorimer present a Lifetime Achievement Award to an individual who has made notable contributions to the fitness industry, and offered a lifetime of service to the enhancement of sports performance and promotion. They are proud to announce that the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is Betty Weider.

Mrs. Weider has been at the forefront of health and fitness since the 1960s. She is the co-founder of Shape magazine, the nation’s first and most popular publication for women’s fitness and health. From her long-running articles in industry magazines and her exercise books, Betty has garnered international acclaim for her ability to change women’s perceptions of their bodies. She has been instrumental in helping women understand the importance of a healthy diet in addition to exercise. Along with her husband Joe Weider, Betty has created and maintained a towering legacy in the health and fitness world. The Arnold Sports Festival is honored to recognize her with the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award.
