Women Sues Over HCG Injections
A woman's suing national weight loss chain, MD Diet, and a dozen employees who she believes failed to properly evaluate her prior to prescribing various drugs. The woman, who had recently undergone gall bladder surgery, was counseled by a doctor to take at least three medications in addition to the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) injections she was receiving weekly to assist in weight loss. HCG is used with and without Clomid by bodybuilders and powerlifters as part of their Post Cycle Therapy to help kick start their natural testosterone production. But recently, people have started using HCG for weight loss which has spawned the creation of a series of fad diet pills and elixirs bearing the "HCG" naming in their product names. According to a civil lawsuit, the woman began to experience seizures after taking HCG. Following a trip to the emergency room, other physicians later determined the seizures and associated symptoms were caused by the prescription drug cocktail she was taking. The woman later required surgery to remove a mass in her head. She is suing the national MD Diet chain for carelessness, negligence and wrongful conduct, and asking for at least $20,000 to cover bills she must pay, loss of income and special damages.
