Strongman To Bodybuilder

By: Lori-Ann Redding

Ever wonder what the world strongest man would look like on a bodybuilding stage? Well you're about to find out! World Champion Professional Strongman, Hugo Girard is taking a new road and this time it’s leading to the Association des Physiques Québécois (APQ-IFBB affiliate)
stage on March 31, 2012.

Hugo began his training at the young age of 5. His father gave him a set of 2.5 lbs weights to develop his strength and his physique. Considered to be one of the strongest men in the world.

Hugo’s extensive achievements in Strongman includes:
* Six-time finalist at the World's Strongest Man
* From 1999 to 2004 Canada Strongest Man Champion
* In 2001 and 2002 North American Strongest Man Champion
* In 2003 world champion at the IFSA World Champion Superseries

Commenting on his new bodybuilding endeavor, he states,

“It will be my first bb comp so I have a lot to learn and it is a challenge that I look forward to accomplish. It is a radical change coming from the strength World to this one but it is also a nice transition to a new lifestyle.”

We asked Hugo why he chose the IFBB to make his bodybuilding debut and this is what he had to say,

“It is fairly simple I choose to compete in a IFBB affiliated fed because that is the best established organization and that where the best athletes goes. When you are a competitor and that you are looking at being the best that’s what you need to compete with the best in the best organization.”

Maybe Hugo's fans will get a chance to see him "pose-down" at the 2012 SuperShow where he'll be hosting the The All Ontario Strongman Challenge.

We wish Hugo all the best and we’ll be following along with him during this new challenge.
