Please Sell Me Your Posing Trunks
Q: Okay, does this so-called G4P ("gay for pay") actually take place in the bodybuilding subculture? Online forums seem to feature almost weekly threads concerning the matter.

A: I competed in my first bodybuilding show 10 years ago and placed second. The next day I found my picture in the local paper. I found it very flattering. The following year I entered the same event but in the next level of up. Later that evening a gentleman approached me in the lobby of the venue and complimented me on my showing. I thought nothing of it. And besides, the only thing on my mind at that point was food -- and lots of it. Fast forward to very recently. I am walking down Yonge St. in Toronto and this same "gentleman" stops me. I was amazed he even remembers me. He is again full of compliments and wants to know if I have plans to again compete. We chat and he finds the courage to ask if I still have my posing trunks. He wants to purchase them. I am stunned but quickly recover. Unfortunately for him, I had discarded them.
If I had saved them I could have made a quick buck. Then again, would I want to have to have the image of this guy sniffing my sweaty and oil-stained trunks or perhaps wearing them on his head around the house?
Since, I have discovered competitors selling their used trunks online, and seen and heard many things, so from my vantage point, there is truth in the existence of G4P. It isn't a secret that many gays dig built men, so how is it difficult to imagine them frequenting places where muscle guys hang (contests, gyms, etc.)? And if they have money, well, all the better to perhaps leverage some young buck to "entertain" them. Bodybuilding's an expensive endeavour, after all. A little extra cash can go a long way.
So, yeah, hungry physique athletes sometimes do things they wouldn't normally consider. What kinds of things is all a matter of desire and individual limitation -- and how deep someone's wallet goes, I guess.
