Lauren Jacobsen Injured

Bad luck has come just weeks away from the North American's for  Canadian National figure competitor and MUSCLE INSIDER Columnist Lauren Jacobsen! She's sustained an injury while training that might put her out of competition for the rest of this contest season Lauren told MUSCLE INSIDER. Below is from Lauren:

"My trip to the Mecca started as well as it ended. The purpose of this 4th trip to LA in less than 16 months was to check-in with my trainer Eric Dilauro on my progress for the up-coming North Americans, the third attempt at an IFBB pro-card. To start, I was going to LA highly stressed, with an unexpected allergic reaction and hive breakout! When I finally get to airport – delayed and overbooked! I make it to LA and trained my butt off with 2x per day workouts, incorporating running workouts on the beach and 4th Street stair climbing. By my Sunday afternoon workout, I was going on little left in the tank, and on little sleep. Attempting to add in a few box jumps into the end of my workout turned out to be a bad idea. On my last jump, I missed the box slipped and hit the outside of my left hand directly on the metal frame of the platform. Feeling pretty nauseous after I felt compelled to do another set of jumps, having no idea that I actually snapped my 5th metacarpal. I continued to train on my last day at Gold’s and even did a ‘fight’ scene shoot. After a few days of being at home, I realized that it might be wise to go to the Doctors and get an x-ray, where I learned that my competition season was now over. I am now in a cast, for at least the next 6 weeks and learning how to do everything one-handed!"
