Information Or Misinformation

Q. Can I trust information on the Internet and in magazines for designing my pre-contest diet, or do you think it’s better to work with a professional?

A. While I think both can be excellent outlets for finding generic tips, it’s not until you dig deeper that you find the proper mechanics for designing a proper nutrition plan that will work specifically for you. Many diet systems you read about will hand you a generic, “one-size-fits-all” meal plan or a list of calorie content for various foods and expect you to figure it all out for yourself. These types of diets and tips can take months for you to piece together into viable programs that work for your body.

What I’ve learned from my experience and teachings is that you need to calculate every aspect of your own personal diet. You need to examine your metabolism, your energy input and output, your current diet and training programs, and what’s worked and hasn’t worked in the past. That list may seem intimidating to you, but to a professional, it’s our job.

This is why I developed the Wyner Nutrition System (WNS), so that every detail is taken care of for athletes. It’s integral to have a diet plan that is all mapped out in a clear, concise program scientifically based on what you need to reach your specific goals. WNS has the capabilities to go a few steps further than most diets when designing programs as we take into account your blood type and your metabolic rate as well as your current training routine. With all three of these steps in mind, we’re able to design a nutrition program that is truly based on every aspect of your body.
