Best Diet Tips For Non-Competers
Q. What are some of your best diet, nutrition, and supplementation tips for people who don’t want to necessarily compete but want to look great?
A. It’s really all about a healthy lifestyle, not just dieting. Try to schedule one or two cheats during the week or on weekends, and then eat clean the rest of the time (keeping portion sizes in mind). Drink tons of water! Staying hydrated is very important. I would also recommend trying to do weights and cardio at separate times, especially if you’re trying to build muscle and lose fat at the same time. Lastly, the scale is nothing but a number—your body can fluctuate between three and seven pounds per day. If you’re going to track progress with your weight, ensure you do it first thing in the morning, after you use the bathroom, and yes, naked is best. If you aren’t competing and weight isn’t an issue, use the mirror as your guide. If you feel great and are seeing improvements, that’s all that should matter.
