Why did you decide to start making healthy recipes?

I grew up learning to bake with my grandmother and eventually entering my recipes in the local fair. I love to bake, but more importantly, I love to eat my own baking. After developing a healthier lifestyle, participating in fitness competitions, and educating myself on different healthy eating styles, I decided to incorporate my passions for baking and fitness together. Now I can enjoy my recipes and share them with others while promoting a healthier lifestyle at the same time.

What do you think is the reason #CleanEating is so popular?

There are many reasons why #CleanEating has become so popular. The main reason is that everyone wants to live a healthier lifestyle while still enjoying food. I started up my baking company, Barbell Cowgirl Bakes, to help people better understand nutrition and healthy eating, and to show them that you can eat delicious treats and stick to your health goals at the same time.

What is your greatest success or transformation story in the health/fitness industry?

During my health/fitness journey, I have competed in four provincial fitness competitions. Leading up to my competitions, I would recklessly diet and do endless hours of cardio, only to rebound quickly after. It was a dangerous cycle that I did not know how to escape from. In the past two years I decided to educate myself on the concept of counting macronutrients, and it has been one of the greatest things I have ever done! It’s taught me that I can eat foods I enjoy and be more flexible in my food choices all while sticking to my fitness goals. I am finally in a healthy, balanced place. I love educating my friends and family members on the concept of macro counting as well. All of the education has given me the knowledge to start up my own baking company based around the science of counting macronutrients and incorporating it into my recipes.

Why do you think you can rep Optimum Nutrition like a boss? What do you love about the brand?

I believe I am a great candidate to rep Optimum Nutrition because I am thoroughly dedicated to my social media accounts and spend a considerable amount of time perfecting the information I choose to share with the world. I am also very dedicated to promoting things that I support and love, and Optimum Nutrition products are exactly that! The quality of ON products is obvious; the flavours are incredible and the diverse product line provides supplements for anyone with any type of fitness goal. It is also incredible for Optimum Nutrition to give up-and-coming chefs like me this opportunity to follow our dreams.

Why should YOU be Canada’s Best Protein Chef?

I believe I should be Canada’s Best Protein Chef because the combination of fitness and delicious food is the thing that I am most passionate about. I have dedicated much of my time to creating delicious, healthy, and high-protein recipes to share with those around me. I have spent endless hours educating myself on healthy ingredients, food substitutes, and much more, all so I can create original, delicious, and high-protein baked goods. I am incredibly passionate about the quality of baked goods that I create, and I absolutely love coming up with new, original recipes all the time to share. I have sacrificed a lot to follow my dreams and start up my own company centered around healthy baking, and cannot wait to see what the future has in store!

What is your favourite Optimum Nutrition product and why?

My favorite Optimum Nutrition product would have to be the Opti-Bars. Most specifically, my favorite flavour is the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. All of the flavours are delicious, and they are such an easy snack to have pre-workout, post-workout, or just on the go! I love that in one bar, there are just 4 grams of sugar, but such a large amount of protein at 20 grams! A product that I have yet to try, but cannot wait to, is Protein Energy!
