Why did you become a personal trainer?

Having played so many sports as a kid and always being around coaches and different athletic trainers I always knew that I wanted to be involved in some form of training, coaching or athlete training. After high school I joined the army for a new challenge and chapter of my life and fell in love with the lifestyle and discipline that that job required. Upon returning home from Afghanistan I was definitely at a great place in my life to finally go after what my true passion has always been, which is helping people not only get in the best shape of their lives, but help them overcome the mental stressors that this society places upon us through exercise, supplementation and proper nutrition. This has proved to be the best decision I have ever made, because for 5 years now I can say that there is not a day that I don’t look forward to going to work. Even though sometimes clients love to test me.

What do you think is the reason your clients gravitated to you?

I honestly think there are many reasons why clients gravitate towards me. Some of the main ones being:

I practice what I preach. Clients know that if I’m giving them advice on exercise, nutrition, supplementation, or any topic that there must be a lot of merit because they know that this is not only my full time job/career, this is and always has been my passion in life.

I try and make even the toughest workouts fun and enjoyable in nature. For years now there has been an acronym going around the gym that Niall does F.U.N. workouts. And for a while I had no idea what it meant until a client told me it stands for Fuck U Niall.

I truly 100% listen to my clients and give the best possible advice based off my education and experience. This is definitely where I stand out above the rest of trainers that I know because I genuinely 100% care about my client’s health and well being.

Greatest client success story:

For me, this was a very difficult question to answer because over the last 5 years I’ve had so many amazing clients do amazing things. This includes having clients lose substantial amounts of weight, with a few losing over 200lbs. Athletes I’ve trained getting scholarships to post secondary schools for football and other sports programs. And a bunch of clients that thought they would never pass the testing to get into the Army, Police and Fire department pass with flying colours.

But above all those I think the greatest success story that I will look back on with great pride is when I had a newer client tell me that through my training and guidance with proper nutrition and supplementation got him off his depression meds and ultimately saved him from committing suicide. This job has really opened my eyes to just how important exercise, nutrition, and proper supplementation is to ones physical, mental and spiritual health. I now always make it my mission when training new clients that may be on any type of depression/anxiety med to slowly get them off those meds through Nutrition, exercise, supplementation, meditation, and mindfulness practices.

What do you love about the brand?

I think I can rep EFX Sports like a boss because for me this is and has always been my passion in life. I have always been that guy/athlete that is always looking for the next challenge, whether it is going to Afghanistan with the army to help protect this beautiful country, competing in local powerlifting comps, and now currently training for the Nationals physique competition in July in Vancouver. Along with that I continually give back to the community by Volunteering at a few different high schools. I volunteered at my old high school for 2 years helping out with the football program by coaching their strength and conditioning and helping on the defensive side of the ball. I also started a program in a behavioral class at another local school where for the last 2 years I go to the school every Thursday and teach a class on various topics within this industry and also take them to the weight room and teach them proper form on exercises and run them through a fun workout. This has proved to be very successful with a lot of the kids using fitness and exercise and a positive release for them given they don’t come from very good home family situations. For my efforts within this program I was presented a Trustee Character Award from the School board, which for me was definitely one of the highlights of my career. What I love about the brand thus far is that you’re huge advocates for the bodybuilding lifestyle, which I personally have been living for years now. This lifestyle not only keeps me mentally and spiritually healthy, but also physically healthy which is always nice because anyone that says they’re not training to look sexy as fuck naked is a liar. But I do agree that changes need to be made within this industry that seems to be taking a turn for the worse with lots of athletes doing whatever it takes to look great on the outside without worrying what they look like on the inside or what the repercussions may be in the near future. Seems like this company is trying to once again merge the health and fitness industries into one.

Why should YOU be Canada’s Top trainer?

Other than my boyish good looks and insanely witty humour, I think the one area where I stand out above the rest of the many amazing trainers my city and this country has to offer, is that I 100% truly and whole heatedly try and listen to my clients when they are talking or telling me about their problems/issues. I think that in today’s society this is such a lost art because of our addiction to our phones, social media and being constantly connected. Too many times have I seen other trainers half listening to their clients as they’re answering text messages, checking their email or catching up on their Snapchat story’s. This is why when it is their time to train my phone is left in the office or on the shelf if my phone is being used to play music on the Bluetooth speakers.

What is your favorite EFX product and why?

Because I’m a very honest person, I can honestly say that I’ve not yet tried any of the products that this company offers. But, through this program I am insanely excited to try out all the awesome products that I’ve been reading about on the website and look forward to giving my honest reviews on them. I’m also excited to represent this company through this competition and have my clients use these supplements for their own fitness journeys. So far I’m probably most excited to try the Test Charge. Given I am a natural athlete I’m still always looking to get a little advantage from these types of supplements and always look forward to seeing what type of advantage they may give me, whether it be a little more strength, help/aid in recovery, or just help give me a little more energy.
