Six Star Pro Nutrition Announces 2018 Scholarship Award Winners

We have to applaud the folks over at Six Star Pro Nutrition® for giving back. Six Star just announced the winners of their "Greatness Is Earned" Scholarship Award program. The scholarship recognizes two students who have demonstrated excellence in academics and athletics, as well as community involvement, and awards them with a $15,000 bursary (for a total of $30,000) to put toward their post-secondary education. John Kaufmann and Emily Oh are the winners of the award this year!

"This is the second year we are running the scholarship program, and we were very impressed by the number of submissions we received. We had many students across the country send in their essays and videos, sharing all the ways they are excelling in school, on the field, and in the community. The level of determination and passion we are seeing in this generation to bring their best game forward is an inspiration for us within the Six Star® community. I am looking forward to seeing the impact these boys and girls make in the world over the next few years, and we feel privileged to support them on their journey to greatness," said Brian Cavanaugh, Chief Marketing Officer of Iovate.

John is entering his fourth year at Michigan State University. He is majoring in Chemical Engineering. A former high school football and basketball player, he carried on his passion for a healthy, active lifestyle into university by taking on weightlifting. A young man of admirable determination and willpower, John gives it his all in the gym and the classroom, averaging a 3.87 GPA and making it onto the Dean's List. In addition to his athletic and academic achievements, John is deeply involved in his community, dedicating about 20 hours a week to his campus groups.

Emily will be starting her post-secondary studies this September at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Kinesiology and Exercise Science with a minor in Nutrition. A hard worker and a go-getter, she has an impressive track record of academic, athletic and community highlights. Whether it is breaking personal records in the gym, earning the titles of State Scholar and IP Scholar, or volunteering for Alliance for the Children and Feed My Starving Children, Emily has shown that passion and discipline can make anything possible.

"We've seen many great submissions over the past year, but when it came to Emily's and John's, we were unanimous – that's it, these are our winners. They are incredibly dedicated to what they do, passionate about success, fitness and their community; their enthusiasm is contagious. Emily and John truly represent what #GreatnessIsEarned stands for," Cavanaugh added.
