Rumour has it Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be promoting his own IFBB Pro League show in 2020, and it's believed that it will pay out even more prize money than the Olympia!

In a recent Mike Rashid interview on his YouTube channel, Dexter Jackson and Jay Cutler were discussing how Olympia prize money has not increased much over the past decade or more, especially in comparison to the UFC prize money, where winners are taking home million-dollar prizes. Even looking at the Arnold’s prize money for winners, total prize money for the open bodybuilding winner has actually decreased since the days of Jay winning the show. With less than four minutes left in the interview, Dexter leaked word of a new show coming to the IFBB in 2020, which will have prize money paying more to the winners than the Olympia. He also mentioned that women are going to earn the same prize money as men.

According to sources, this new show is being referred to as “The Rock Games”, but we don’t know if this is the official name at this time. This show would be promoted by the Rock’s company and held in Atlanta, Georgia. Appparantly, the show will also have two large mainstream sponsors; Under Armour and Ford. It seems that the main idea behind The Rock’s show, is to increase the production value of bodybuilding and to promote it similarly to the UFC. This show is expected to run very much like the Arnold Classic, where there will be other athletic events attached to the bodybuilding event. There will also be a huge expo. There is even rumour that there will be a UFC event promoted alongside the bodybuilding show.

People are asking the question, why are they paying more prize money than the Olympia? Simply put, because they can. Many of you may have noticed over the past few years, the increased presence of The Rock at the Olympia. Rumour has it The Rock was originally planning to buy the Olympia from American Media, Inc. (AMI) and David Pecker.

The Rock has always been very interested in bodybuilding and the Olympia was apparantly going to become The Rock’s show, but obviously that never happened as AMI still owns the Olympia. Even though this deal presumably fell through, The Rock maintains an active interest in being involved in professional bodybuilding. It makes sense that talks now point to him pursuing a show of his own. With his renown reputation and unprecedented access to resources, he has the ability to create a show unlike we've ever seen before.
