New York Knicks Player Joakim Noah Suspended For Taking SARMs

Joakim Noah of the New York Knicks has been suspended for taking SARMs. The NBA has suspended Joakim for taking the Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator (SARM) known as “LGD-4033” which will put the New York Knicks center out for 20 games and have him forfeit between $2 million and $3 million in salary during the suspension. The National Basketball Players Association announced Saturday that neither Noah nor the union would appeal the suspension. "We believe that this isolated occurrence was a regrettable mistake," the union announced in a statement. "Joakim has offered his deepest apologies for this infraction." Joakim Noah tested positive for LGD-4033 which is banned under the NBA's current collective bargaining agreement. LGD-4033 is defined as a "non-steroidal, selective androgen receptor modulator that, much like testosterone, can create anabolic activity in muscles and bones". In a clinical sudy done at Boston University School of Medicine, LGD-4033 was associated with dose-dependent suppression of total testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglyceride levels. follicle-stimulating hormone and free testosterone showed significant suppression.
